Taiwanese-style Radish Cake,Savoury Rice Cake & Prosperity Fa Gao

Taiwanese-style radish cake, savory rice cake, and Prosperity Steamed cake are all traditional delicious dishes from Taiwan. Learning how to make them will help you better understand Taiwanese food culture and allow you to make authentic flavors yourself.

1. Taiwanese-style Radish Cake: Radish cake is a classic Taiwanese snack, especially during the Lunar New Year when it’s often served with braised pork or sausage. To make it, shredded white radish is mixed with rice flour and seasonings, then steamed. It has a crispy outer layer and a soft, chewy interior.

2. Taiwanese-style Savory Rice Cake: Savory rice cake is a must-have dish during the New Year period. The sticky rice cake symbolizes unity and harmony. It is typically made with ingredients like shiitake mushrooms, dried scallops, and braised pork, all cooked in a special braised sauce for extra flavor. This dish brings a strong sense of home.

3. Prosperity Fa Gao: A traditional cake that incorporates different ingredients representing the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water). Each ingredient symbolizes a different meaning, making the cake not only delicious but also full of good luck, prosperity, and success.
