Charlotte Cake

The outer ring of the Charlotte Cake is made of “Biscuits à la cuillère” (Finger Sponge Biscuits), which looks like a hat with a ribbon that was popular among European upper-class ladies in the 18th century. It is said that the person who started the trend of wearing this kind of hat was Charlotte (also translated as Charlotte), the concubine of King George III of England. From then on, this cake was named “Charlotte”.
